The Wall Street Journal has an article up discussing R. Crumb’s musical interests and, indeed, prowess. Written by Will Friedwald it includes a report on his recent set with The East River String Band (who […]

Where all the hep cats’ll be tonight: We really dig this book, and its contributors are good peoples. Get’cher butt to Brooklyn.
For those of you who’ve not experienced NIGHTMARE’s annual haunted houses the last few years here in NYC you’re really missing out. Those in the know will tell ya, the productions are top notch, the creatives involved dedicated and intensely passionate, and the whole shebang is usually a scarifying adrenaline rush rarely obtained outside of an encounter with a Lamia (watched Sam Raimi’s Drag Me to Hell last night, hence the reference… Man alive was that neat-0). NIGHTMARE creator Timothy Haskell and his crew work on this show all year long and it shows. […]
I know all you loyal Shibuya-Cho readers out there look forward to the weekly manga and anime updates, but this week something special came up, and being the guy upstairs, I felt this time we needed to share the love…and article space. […]
Cause for celebration: Night of the Creeps finally releases on legitimate (many of you, myself included, have owned crappy bootleg copies procured at conventions) DVD and BluRay tomorrow, 10/27/09!!! Movieweb.com has a keen interview up […]
Unfortunately the schedule for Ronald Chevalier is not going to permit him to make his previously mentioned appearance at Forbidden Planet. We do however have advanced screening passes for those interested while supplies last . […]
R. Crumb is one of the greatest comic book artists of all time, and this might be his living masterpiece. Robert Crumbs art is incomparable, and his work here fully illustrating the Biblical book of genesis is possibly his best. Why buy this book? […]
Umbrella Academy vol 02: Dallas TP- A fractured team gets thrust into new adventure involving a plot to kill JFK. An FP bestseller, The Umbrella Academy Dallas maintains the vibrant cool of volume one with Dallas well. Written by Gerard Way (lead singer of My Chemical Romance and a former guest of FP and an overall swell fella) with glorious art by Gabriel Ba (Casanova), who never disappoints. […]
According to The Hollywood Reporter Executive Producer and showrunner Marc Guggenheim has left ABC’s FlashForward, a new borderline sciffy series I’ve been digging immensely. David Goyer, who along with Brannon Braga is co-creator of the […]
Hello one and all, this is gonna be a slow week, but we do have a few titles you’re gonna want. First up on the list is my pick of the week, Chibi Vampire Volume 14. Granted, I thought this series was going to end about 4 volumes ago, but I’m kinda glad it’s still pushing on. If it didn’t, we would not have gotten to meet her awesome grandmother, and get in on the family history. Not to mention the secret of why she’s the only vampire who gushes blood instead of drinks it. I’m not going to give any of it away, for the sake of any new readers, but I’m just thrilled it became so much more than a cheesy high school romance story. […]

Plaque, Legos, Dozers… These things build up. So too does the rather heaping mound of comics, books, and assorted curiosities on the coffee table back at Casa de Ayers. I get sent and/or buy a whole lot of stuff in my capacity as buyer for FP (not to mention my lot in this life- Jeff Ayers, geek) and most weeks simply cannot keep up with the volume. Don’t get me wrong, there are worse problems to have, but there are many quality works that need to be rescued from this oblivion periodically. Let’s see what’s currently mixed in the pile. […]
Welcome to the first webcast from Forbidden Planet featuring the new coffee table book Boilerplate: History’s Mechanical Marvel. FP hosted the authors, Anina Bennett and Paul Guinan, for a short interview about their creation. It’s […]
Exhibiting at Big Apple Comic-Con 10/17-10/19 2009 Big Apple Comic-Con looms like a big geeky monster towering above me this week, as FP prepares to exhibit at the newly-acquired-by-Wizard show. Myself and the FPNYC staff […]
