Come On, Get Happy!

Happy Image Comics SyFy

‘Tis the season for a crazy drunken ex-cop turned hit-man to track down a monstrous child killer in a Santa suit. And a tiny blue horse called Happy. It’s just another twisted hilarious tale from superstar creators Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson. Just in time for the holidays is this deluxe edition of the darkly demented noir before the pilot airs on SyFy. Why wait for your DVR to catch up on this kind of delight?

Nick Sax is a piece of work. He’s corrupt and adrift in a surreal twilight world of casual murder, soulless sex, eczema, and betrayal. A hit goes wrong, bullet lodges in his side, the cops and the mob are chasing him down, and all the while he’s going to take on that satanic Santa I mentioned above. Nick’s in a bad and really weird way. Oh, yeah, and then there’s that little blue horse. How will he get out of this alive? Should he? To find out, take the plunge into a whacky wild wonderland.

There’re no shortages of comic book properties filling the small screens of our lives. How many of us thought before 2001 that Hollywood had been missing out on big bucks from the funny books we were reading? Now, we’re entering a platinum age! With so many different services in need of content, there are more opportunities than ever for our favorite characters and stories to take life in new mediums. What’s especially fun is that superheroes no longer have to dominate that side of the marketplace either. For evidence look at shows like iZombie on CW, Lucifer on FOX, Wilson in movie theaters, Millarworld’s new deal with Netflix, and now Happy! is going to make air on SyFy (who already has IDW’s Wynonna Earp entering its third season). Celebrate with the source and revel in the best form of spoilers this week.
