Avengers #675 Promises There’s “No Surrender” Allowed

Avengers #675 No Surrender

It feels like Marvel’s decided to poke DC: “You call that an event? This is an event!” Just imagine an Australian accent and be over the age of forty, you’ll chuckle when you reread the lead-in joke. But for reals, the Disney comics division is going to merge all of their ongoing Avengers books into one massive, sixteen part, WEEKLY, don’t-call-it-an-event story, “No Surrender.” This marathon mission for Earth’s Mightiest kicks off in Avengers #675 this New Release Day! Now, who the in the yellow heck is freakin’ Voyager?

The brass at the behemoth publisher are promising this story will end one era of Earth’s Mightiest’s stories and begin a new one. And that the success of the weekly publishing schedule could influence the House of Ideas for a long time to come. So, you know, no pressure on this delivering the goods to this story. And to unite every character carrying a card with that epic “A” on it, Marvel is turning to scribes Mark Waid, Al Ewing, and Jim Zub to tell the epic tale. Artist Pepe Larraz will be the lead-off to get things on base. So, what’s causin’ all this?

The Earth has been stolen! The sky burns while mysterious cosmic objects crash down from above, wreaking havoc across the world. The Avengers are the last line of defense between Earth and the mysterious forces threatening to tear it apart. Which of the several teams of Avengers, you ask? Well, we got the Avengers, Uncanny Avengers, U.S. Avengers, and oh yeah, Occupy Avengers. Yup, Lighting, Red Wolf, Rogue, Falcon, and every other hero you can think of come together to face a threat beyond any they’ve faced before. Again. The founding members will be on hand, and a mysterious character known as Voyager is promised to be the most important team member we’ve forgotten. Do you smell another Sentry-like retcon? Is this the kind of clean slate Marvel Legacy promised us? We have sixteen weeks to find out…
