Milk Wars Makes A Splash With This JLA/Doom Patrol Special!

Got Milk? Come On, You Know I Had To...

Milk Wars JLA Doom Patrol Gerard Way DC Comics

The DC Universe and Young Animal line are set to embark on a crossover like you’ve NEVER experienced before. The worlds colliding in this cannot be contained by the bounds of conventional storytelling. Yes, it’s true, it’s damn true, it’s time for the fateful showdown known cryptically as the Milk Wars! This has been described as the un-event of the year from DC Comics and, man, after reading it, this is going to provoke some crazy reactions from you, dear readers. How do I begin? Where does it end? Let’s see if we can tackle this JLA/Doom Patrol Special out this week!

In the first part of the “Milk Wars” (man, typing that is more fun than expected!) meet Milkman Man! He’s an unknown final son of Krypton, sent to our planet (Earth-Prime) only to be adopted by an evil dairy farmer and raised to love all things dairy! His cholesterol is out of this world. He’s been hired by RetCo, an interdimensional company that’s been stealing stories and repackaging them for “new markets”. RetCo’s deeply engrained into current continuity through the use of radioactive milk of psychic cows. To what end? Why, to dampen the more dangerous impulses of the Justice League and turn them into broadly appealing “safe” heroes. Oy, I used quotation marks thrice in one paragraph…But never fear, because the Doom Patrol is here to set things straight. Yup, we’re all doomed!

This extra-sized special has is brought to you by the collective imaginations of Steve Orlando and Gerard Way. And man, does ACO get to have a ton of fun in cutting loose with intricate panel layouts. There’s no shortage of places on the page for your eyes to feast and your brains to melt at. But wait! There’s more! A special four-part back-up feature by Magdalene Visaggio about Eternity Girl! For reals, Eternity Girl. “Milk Wars” plans to do the reading pile good.
