The march towards December’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi has begun! Last Friday we celebrated with the second annual Force Friday. We also got a new series looking towards the past with Star Wars Mace Windu #1. This week, the excitement for this winter’s guaranteed blockbuster sensation with a series dedicated to a fan beloved new character from The Force Awakens: Captain Phasma. The super long titled Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Star Wars: Captain Phasma #1 will show us the fate of the chrome covered badass from Episode VII.

For those of you living in caves at the time, let’s go back to the final moments of The Force Awakens shall we? Captured by the Resistance and thrown into a garbage masher, Captain Phasma, the most feared warrior of the First Order has suffered her greatest defeat. The Starkiller Base is about to be destroyed. How will one of the greatest badasses in the galaxy survive? What will Phasma’s path to this what’s expected to be the biggest movie of 2017 be? How much blood will be spilled? How many Resistance fighters will stand in her way? Will some favorite new characters cross her path?

Kelly Thompson and Marco Checchetto have both had experience working in Marvel’s new Star Wars cannon with solid successes so far. With a fresh character that fans have clamored to have more of in their hands, the possibilities are exciting. Every character has a great story in them. Boba Fett had six lines in the original trilogy and became one of the best characters in the history of Star Wars. All it took was some expanded universe stories to flesh him out and fan fans’ adoration. Will these creators help build the following for Captain Phasma and promote her to that kind of cult status?
