The New York Post says Bono has rescued the Spider-Man musical.

We’ve been off for the weekend, enjoying the fine mountain air, but over the weekend it seems Bono (and not Disney) has swooped in and rescued the Spider-Man musical.

Last we checked in with the musical, reports were that they were completely bankrupt because of Julie Taymor’s spending spree of 45 million dollars. However, Michael Riedel of the New York Post reports (seemingly from outer-space and with no attribution) that Bono is looking to get his vast network of rich buddies to invest in the show and give it a boost it desperately needs.

Riedel puts it beautifully:

Bono feeds half of Africa, so raising a few more million for “Spider-Man” shouldn’t be too difficult.

Exactly.  So, some workers go back to work today, but there still remains the fact that Evan Rachel Wood (who was signed to play Mary Jane. Great choice, by the way) and the rest of the actors have been released from their contracts, and no one is buying tickets for the show.

Its a real shame considering I’m sure this musical will be a sight to behold with the awesome Alan Cumming playing Norman Osborne/Green Goblin, the aforementioned Wood and…hang on.  Has Peter Parker even been cast?  Somebody answer this quick!  Also someone please explain to Bono why Kurt Cobain should not be uttered in the same sentence as Peter Parker!
