Val’s Toy Chest- SDCC Pt 2/Spider Man Comes Home

NECA Toys Ultimate Chucky Action Figure Child's Play toy

December will see the release of a brand new chapter of the Star Wars saga- The Last Jedi! Hasbro has some new 6″ Black Series stuff in the pipeline which they’ve showed off at SDCC. The only item we know about so far from the new film is a Jedi Training Rey and Luke Skywalker two pack. The rest of the Star Wars reveals cover some of the characters we did not receive from The Force Awakens, along with characters from all across the Star Wars saga. General Leia Organa and Maz Kanata both make their long-awaited debuts in the Star Wars Black Series 6″ line, while characters like Captain Rex, A Rebel Fleet Trooper and Rey in her Resistance Outfit are also on the way. If you prefer your figures on a smaller scale, Hasbro is resurrecting their fully articulated 3 3/4″ line on vintage-inspired cards. One of the characters that will appear in this line is a fairly recent addition to the Star Wars mythos- coming straight from the Marvel Comics series of the same name is Doctor Aphra. She will join characters like Rey, Jyn Erso and more when the line returns sometime next year. There’s sure to be some other surprises coming on this year’s Force Friday as Hasbro has kept their plans for the new movie tightly under wraps.

Shifting to NECA for a minute- Some new horror figures are on the way including:

A second wave of figures from the Starz TV series Ash Vs Evil Dead.

An Ultimate version of Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge which will feature alternate heads, two alternate hands, a flame effect and two human faced dogs.

A really cool Friday the 13th accessory set featuring several Camp Crystal Lake props for your Jason figures.

An Ultimate Chucky figure with tons of accessories and different heads to replicate several of his looks from the different Child’s Play films.

Star Trek figures are coming from McFarlane Toys including a Captain Kirk and a Captain Picard. These look to be a part of their recent Color Tops line, which include Walking Dead,  Mass Effect, Gears of War, Attack on Titan and Naruto as licenses. Stranger Things and One-Punch Man look to be joining the line as well.

Spider-Man Legends Toys Homecoming movie toys 6"

Finally coming in this week is the long awaited Marvel Legends Spider-Man Homecoming wave of figures. Based on the recent Tom Holland vehicle, both movie and comic characters are featured in this line. Two different versions of the arachnid superhero as well as his film foe The Vulture appear in this series alongside characters from the comics like Tombstone, The Beetle, Moon Knight and Captain Universe Spider-Man. Collect all the figures to build the Vulture’s wings.

Next week we are having a cool in-store event featuring Super7’s Toxic Avenger ReAction action figures. Two styles will be available including an authentic movie version and a Toxic Crusaders version. Each of the figures will be packaged on vintage style backer cards with the appropriate card art representing each version of Toxie. Lloyd Kaufman, Troma president and creator of Toxie will be on hand to sign figures and there’s sure to be more Troma excitement that evening- so come join us next Thursday, August 10th at 6PM!

Catch you next time!
