The Wilds #1 Is Exactly The Comic You’ve Been Waiting For

Running Wild On You!

Wilds Black Mask Studios

From kickass creators Vita Ayala (Bitch Planet: Triple Feature, Wonder Woman Annual) and Emily Pearson (Cult Classic) comes The Wilds #1, an epic dystopian tale. An expert scavenger is about to find out that the world beyond the safety of her walls may be as dangerous as the one she lives in. Survival is everything, love is what brings hope, and when both are threatened, what will Daisy be prepared to do?

There are all kinds of post-apocalyptic scenarios out there. Zombies overriding the earth, nuclear holocaust, alien originated devastation, but my personal favorite is the one The Wilds #1 is going to show us the aftermath of: disease. America has been ravaged by a plague. Cities and indeed civilization as we know has been all but wiped out. The only places where groups can feel safe are in city-state style communities like the one that Daisy Walker lives in. Known as The Compound, Daisy’s home is a black market salvaging operation. And Daisy is a Runner (maybe in more than one sense of the word). Her job’s to go beyond the confines of The Compound’s walls and explore the ruins of the old world, the dead world, or at least the rotting world.

Daisy ferry’s items and people from settlement to settlement as well. She’s the best. Or so the solicitation text tells us. What Daisy will discover are the Abominations and other dangers that are waiting out there to threaten what semblance of life humanity has left. Not that any danger shakes up Daisy. Well, until her lover, Heather, is kidnapped. When your whole world is turned upside down, survival in the bleakest of times becomes practically impossible. Is the fearless Daisy ready to do all she has to? We’ll find out and soon. Pick it up, don’t miss out, and get your copy signed this Wednesday, February 28th when Vita Ayala and Emily Pearson storm Forbidden Planet’s aisles!
