It is, after all, feeding time, and hungry zombies love to chase and
terrorize healthy humans – especially the running kind. After months of
planning, the generals at Infection Control have released tickets to
Northeastern Pennsylvania’s premiere zombie-themed race, the Zombie
Survivor Challenge (ZSC), on Saturday, September 22, 2012.

ZSC is a zombie- infested 5k/3.1 mile obstacle course at an abandoned
mine site in Taylor, Pennsylvania. Runners will traverse more than 10
obstacles as well as the challenges of the terrain as they evade the
clutches of “shambler” zombies throughout the course. However, these
slow and slow-witted zombies are not the only threat. Attempts to cure
the plague have resulted in mutated “hyper” zombies. These fast,
ravenous zombies will be pursuing runners from behind. Do not worry,
though, all runners will get a head start to try and stay alive!

The public can participate as either a human runner or as a zombie.
Zombies have the option of being either a shambler or a hyper (fast)
zombie. Once chosen, a zombie must stay in that state for the entire
race – shambler zombies cannot turn into hyper zombies. Prizes will be
awarded for the first human survivor in each wave, and for the most
ravenous hyper zombie – the one with the highest number of time points
awarded for lives collected and turned in at the finish.

Tickets for the Zombie Survivor Challengeare available online at
www.infectscranton.com now through July 23 for early registration
discount. Hyper zombie tickets are $75, shambler zombie tickets at $60,
and survivor tickets are $55. Regular registration fees will be in
effect from July 24 through September 21st. There will be no
registration on the day of the event.

The ZSC is sponsored by Infect Scranton (Survivor Camp 232), a
fan-focused zombie convention. SC 232 will be open from September 21 to
23 in Taylor, Pennsylvania. Run by the generals at infection control,
100% of the proceeds from the ZSC will benefit local charities,
including the Lackawanna Heritage Valley, the Ann Kutyna Kidney Fund,
and the Taylor Fire Companies.
