Comic Picks of the Week 3/20/19

What is Spider-Man aged in real time as the Marvel universe rolled along? Spider-Man has been around for fifty-seven years. That’s a lot of Marvel history to live through. Spider-Man artist extraordinaire Mark Bagley brings to life this tale from Chip Zdarsky, who wrote my favorite Spider-Man run in many years. This first issue shows us Marvel in the 60s!

Invisible Kingdom #1

The government is out to betray us. The giant corporations that run the world are in on it. A new scifi epic from comics powerhouses G. Willow Wilson & Christian Ward. I do not know how you could miss a creative team like that.
Uncanny X-Men #1 Main Cover

The rip-roaring start to a new beginning for the flagship X-book. The self-proclaimed “mutant messiah” is leading the Horseman of Salvation on a campaign to change the face of the mutant world. And he’s winning. Lapsed readers and die hards alike will find tons to love in this bombastic, explosive, and endlessly creative restart to the X-line.

The Authority by Brubaker & Nguyen

I didn’t even know this run existed until the announcement of this collection and I already cannot wait. Ed Brubaker (Criminal) & Dustin Nguyen (Descender) are a knockout combination on one of our most overlooked comic properties.

Iron Man by Fraction & Larroca Volume One

The best Iron Man run (don’t you dare even think about @ing me) is finally getting the Complete Collection treatment. Tony Stark’s life and legacy are torn apart before his eyes. And it’s up to Marvel’s smartest mouth to put it all back together again.
