He’s Back! Val’s Toy Chest Returns, with Turtles on the Brain!

Hey folks,

I know it has been a long time since I’ve posted anything new to the blog, but it’s safe to say, these last couple of years have been kind of stressful. Even though I’ve been quiet, I’ve still been here at the Planet, trying to meet your toy needs. I have mostly been hidden in the basement working on getting those toys up on the floor. While there’s been plenty of items that have dropped between my last blog entry(in 2019) and today, let’s focus on one of my favorite toy lines of the past couple of years.

Super7 has done a lot of great things with their action figures, from their retro ReAction line to their collector-focused Ultimates line, we’ve seen some awesome items over the years from the company. One of their many nostalgia-driven licenses is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Turtles holds plenty of memories for yours truly, as it was one of the lines that I collected as I crossed over from childhood to preteenager, so when Super7 announced they were doing tributes to the classic 1988 toy line, I knew I was going to collect as much of the line as I possibly could.

Here’s something you should know about the Super7 Ultimates line- they’re typically made to order, so it is recommended that if you want a specific character, you should probably grab them sooner rather than later as once they are gone, they’re gone. TMNT has been an exception for the most part, as the first 2 series have gone back into production- but this means that if you want to start collecting, you should be able to get almost everyone you want now. Want to know who we have in stock right now? I’ll link it right here:

TMNT Ultimates

While we are missing Shredder and Mutagen Man (the original version), every other character that Super7 has released thus far is still available. If you’re looking for a few good Turtles, I’d recommend starting now.  (BTW- if you noticed- we have a special deal for one lucky customer on a bundle set of the four Turtles, Splinter, and April O’Neil– the Raphael and Splinter in that set are from the first production run too, unlike the individuals listed on our site).

My personal favorites so far are Raphael (I love the color red), April O’Neil (she includes an interchangeable head that is fairly close to the figure depicted on the cardback from the original line, and for those of you that have read my column before, you know I’m a fairly huge female action figure collector), and Bebop (he’s fairly massive and has great details)- though we have just about everything released at the moment, I haven’t picked everyone up yet- but Mondo Gecko and Muckman look pretty sweet and Baxter Stockman was one of the first figures I was drawn to when we first got them in. The best part about the line is that each figure comes with a ton of accessories including alternate heads and hands or accessories that harken back to the original Playmates Toys line.

With several more classic characters on the way including Krang, Leatherhead, Ray Fillet and more, now’s the time to start collecting Super7’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line! If you happen to be in the NYC area, drop in and check the figures out in store, as we have all of them on display out of their packages.

And I’m out for this week! See you next time!

Val
