Paul Pope Signing Total THB at Forbidden Planet NYC

We’re thrilled to welcome Paul Pope back to Forbidden Planet NYC to celebrate the release of Total THB Volume 1, the long-awaited definitive collection of his groundbreaking sci-fi saga.

Set on the urban frontier of Mars, THB follows HR Watson, a teenage courier whose bodyguard – a bottle-sized “super-robot” that grows to titanic size when doused with water – is her only defense in a world of corporate intrigue, interplanetary politics, and jet-age rebellion. This new volume from finally collects the early issues, shorts, and rare material that helped make THB a cult classic and cemented Pope’s reputation as one of the most visionary comic artists of his generation.

Paul Pope is an American author-artist living in NYC whose credits include Batman: Year 100, Heavy Liquid, 100%, and the Battling Boy series. A multiple-award winner (Reuben Award for Best Comic Book, a Harvey, and four Eisners), Pope has seen three of his books land on the New York Times bestseller list, including Battling Boy Vol. 1 debuting at #1. His work has been translated worldwide, and his massive new art monograph, PulpHope 2, hit shelves earlier this year.

Forbidden Planet NYC has a long history with THB – we were one of the only shops in New York to carry the original self-published issues back in the day, and we’ve championed Paul’s work ever since. It just feels right to reunite for this new era of THB.
