Val’s Toy Chest- Toy Fair 2018 Part 1- Marvel Figures

Marvel has had a great week with the release of their most recent film, Black Panther and they look as if they will rule the toy aisle this year as well. First and foremost is Hasbro’s Marvel Legends line, which is set to add dozens of figures to our waiting collections this year.  Here is what we know so far:

Marvel Avengers Infinity War Series 1:  Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Proxima Midnight, Songbird, Taskmaster and King Cobra make up this first wave of figures from the forthcoming film. The latter three characters are based on the comics versions of the characters, while the other four are film versions. We will have this wave available on March 3rd, along with the talking Titan Hero figures and the Infinity Gauntlet role-play item. Let me know what you need.

Marvel Avengers Infinity War Series 2:  Black Knight, Movie Ant-Man and Wasp and Malekith are what’s known about the wave thus far. No word on the other figures nor the build-a-figure as of yet.

Spider-Man Legends: Cloak and Dagger, Elektra, Shadowland Daredevil, Doc Ock, House of M Spidey and Scarlet Spider make up the latest series with recent Spidey character, Sp//dr as the build-a-figure. Cloak and Dagger are timely with the new Freeform series set to debut soon, while most of the other characters listed needed to be redone.Venom is also getting a dedicated Marvel Legends series with comic versions of Venom and Carnage, plus Scream, Poison and Spider-Ham(!). There are still unrevealed figures in this wave, including the BAF.

X-Men Legends: Mohawk Storm, Tiger Stripe Wolverine, Madrox, Psylocke and Gladiator were previously announced with Magneto and Sabretooth joining the roster this weekend. Collect them all and get a new Apocalypse figure. Deadpool Legends will add additional X-Men characters including Omega Red, Bishop and the BAF of Sauron along with different versions of Deadpool.

10 Years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: If the movie versions of the various MCU characters is something you have been collecting, Hasbro is filling in the gaps with figures they might have missed, some of these will be store exclusives while others like Iron Man Mark VII, Captain America and Crossbones from Civil War and Ronan the Accuser will be available for general retail. Other characters announced include the Vision and Scarlet Witch, Thor and Sif, Iron Man, Mandarin and Pepper Potts, Yellowjacket and Ant-Man, The Hulk and Hulkbuster, Tony Stark and Iron Man Mark I and Red Skull, with one more set still unannounced. There will also be Walgreens Exclusive Thing and SIlver Surfer figures to continue the Fantastic Four line.

Shifting gears to Mezco’s 1:12 line, the coolest reveal for me is the Hela figure from Thor: Ragnarok who has one of the best Cate Blanchett likenesses I’ve seen on a Hela figure, the Hot Toys one is best, but man this figure is impressive. Other figures in the line include two versions of Netflix Daredevil, Netflix Punisher, Blade, Cable and Cyclops.

Marvel Gallery will continue from Diamond Select with Rogue, Dazzler, Venom, Carnage and Thanos joining the line along with Ragnarok Valkyrie and Thor.

Next time: DC!
