Val’s Toy Chest- Val’s Top 10 of 2018

2018 has had a great selection of figures from all of my favorite properties including the likes of Star Wars, DC and Marvel. As has been my tradition these past few years, I will provide you a list of my top 10 figures of the year. Figures are in no particular order but alternate between male and female figures and would have to be items we have carried for sale in our store. Some may even still be available.

10. X-Men Legends Archangel– Warren Worthington III strikes an impressive look with his articulated wings and blue and magenta color scheme. He also comes with a pair of alternate heads and an alternate arm piece for the Apocalypse build-a-figure that came out this year.

9. Star Wars Hoth Leia- Carrie Fisher’s Leia Organa hasn’t looked better than this recent Hasbro piece featuring her in her snow outfit from the 2nd movie in the original trilogy.

8.  Star Wars Skiff Lando- One of my favorite scenes from the Return of the Jedi is the Jabba’s Palace sequence which includes Billy Dee Williams in disguise as he infiltrates Jabba’s Palace to save Han Solo.

7. X-Men Legends Storm- Mohawk Storm was one of my most anticipated figures and she did not disappoint with her 80s outfit and hairdo.

6. Spider-Man Legends Spider-Ham- One of the more unexpected choices from this past year was the figure of Peter Porker which though not heavily articulated still had a killer sculpt.

5. DC Multiverse Vixen- Mari McCabe doesn’t get too many figures though her profile has been higher the last few years due to exposure on the DC TV shows. This figure is based on her most recent comic book attire and has a great sculpt and articulation.

4. Deadpool Legends Bishop- Based on the X-Man of the Future, Bishop is one of the best figures that was released earlier this year. Great articulation and sculpt.

3. DC Multiverse Batwoman- Most recently making her debut on the CW, Batwoman has been a long-awaited figure of mine since her debut in the 52 mini series from a few years back, Batwoman comes with an interchangeable Kate Kane head and just looked amazing.

2. Deadpool Legends Cable- Very much based on his early 90s look, Cable is a beautiful figure for those who loved the Liefeld era of X-Force.

1. DC Multiverse Lynda Carter Wonder Woman– As a little kid, I always loved catching Wonder Woman in reruns, never imagining I would have a figure that looked like Lynda Carter. Wonder Woman comes fully articulated and has her signature cape and a base to store her other accessories.

That’s all for me this year- see you next year!
