Avengers Get Their Fresh Start This Week!

The Avengers Assemble...Again. For A New Direction...Again. Please Let This One Work!

Avengers Marvel Comics

Thor Odinson. Steve Rogers. Tony Stark. They’ve been through a lot these past few years. The Unworthy Thor. Hydra Cap. Coma Tony. For many casual fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe these are the pillars of what they think Marvel Comics are. Then there’s the long-reading long-boxers. Who’ve been following the adventures of characters like these since they were babes. And now, for the first time in a long time, this trinity of heroes (wait, wrong publisher) are reunited. After the winding roads they’ve followed it’s time for the Big Three to come together again. And a certain rallying cry is soon to follow in Avengers #1.

Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have disbanded. In the wake, three founding members are going to put the band back together. And it looks like they couldn’t have timed it better. The world’s facing total annihilation from the 200-foot-tall space gods known as Celestials. The Final Host is upon Earth. Who will answer the call to save the world along with these three mainstays? Well, unless you’ve been living without Wi-Fi for a few months, you’ve probably seen the promo images. One of them has a flaming head and sweet wheels. Another’s got anger issues. And one is Captain Marvel. Because she’s beyond a hint, she’s just the best.

Marvel has promised a “Fresh Start” initiative. That all starts with Avengers #1 this week from Jason Aaron and Ed McGuiness. Mr. Aaron’s been penning the adventures involving Odinson for years, so he’s got some familiarity. Then there was Aaron’s run on Doctor Strange, who will be a team consultant. So, there’s a good track record on that end. Add in his experience with working on big events like Avengers Vs. X-Men and the stunning Marvel Legacy #1 and you can feel that Marvel’s Mightiest are in good creative hands.

Hope is necessary and wonderful and dangerous. Are we right to hope that this is will lead to a creative rebirth for one of the pillars of the comics industry? Will our hopes be dashed again as they were just last year? And the year before that? What makes this time different? Well, I mean we get to see the Avengers of One Million B.C. again. So there’s that…Plus,
