Hello Forbidden Planet NYC family! I’m back from another hiatus to talk about the happenings in the toy department as we head towards NYCC this week. Let’s call this a survivor’s guide to NYCC 2023 if you will. (Apologies in advance for the gigantic picture of me at NYCC a few years back, I couldn’t think of another pic to feature.)
Firstly, – let’s talk to all of you autograph collectors out there, like yours truly. Looking to get something special signed by your favorite celebrity at New York Comic Con? We just might have something that bears their likeness available in stock. I am going to point out a few toys we have in-stock for a few of the guests scheduled to appear at NYCC this year, in case you didn’t have anything particular in mind. We do also offer in-store pickup in case you’re traveling and don’t want to lug stuff to NYC. Friendly reminder- make sure the guest you want to meet will be there the days you are going and that you have secured autograph tickets for said guests as some have sold out online already and there may not be any available to buy at the show. Always check scheduling so you don’t have heartbreak later.
Tom Hiddleston– his autograph tickets have sold out online and he most likely won’t have any available at the show, but we definitely have a few items you might want to think about getting signed if you’ve already secured your autograph tickets with him.
POP Loki Frost Giant Vinyl Figure
Mercedes Varnado- the former Sasha Banks is someone I am going to be lining up for at NYCC this year and I will be getting the following item signed by her for myself, it definitely has the best likeness to her than any other toy previously released either in Star Wars or WWE. From her turn on Star Wars: The Mandalorian we get the gorgeous Koska Reeves figure. As of this writing, her autograph tickets were still available.
Simon Kassianides– Mercedes’ fellow Night Owl is also appearing at the show. While his figure doesn’t actually come with an unmasked head sculpt, it might be a cool item to get signed by him anyway. Mercedes and Simon will also be joined by Katee Sackhoff at the show, and last time I was in-store we had one Bo Katan Hot Toys figure left as well- I don’t know if she’s still there so call the shop if you’re interested.
Dee Snider– Dee is scheduled to be at the 7 Bucks A Pop booth, I don’t know what their policy is, but we do have the cool ReAction figure from Super7 available right now.

Austin St John– The original Red Ranger is scheduled to be at the Galactic Productions booth, we have at least one Red Ranger item in stock right now, and one that is scheduled to arrive with the Monday shipment. I will add that figure to this blog post once we have processed it. Here’s what we have at the moment.
That’s pretty much what we have in-stock for NYCC guests as far as toys go, but with people like Charisma Carpenter, James Marsters, Juliet Landau, Karen Gillan, Ewan McGregor and Chris Evans also attending, there may be some comics or other merchandise we have available. As I mentioned above though, make sure you have secured your autographs ahead of time as several of the people mentioned above have sold out.
Secondly, we are doing something really cool with tokidoki starting on Thursday the 12th (aka Day One of NYCC), check social media for that one- if you love Unicornos and cute blind boxes, etc, this is something you will be interested in for sure.
Thirdly, make sure you have a good breakfast, wear deodorant, have comfortable shoes and activate those badges to have a great NYCC experience. Wear a mask if you feel you must and most importantly, have FUN!
